Joseph Sydney Caudill, age 79, died suddenly Monday, February 5th, 2024 of congestive heart failure at Denver Health Hospital.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Clare E. Doll, a high school math teacher for over 30 years and a member of the St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church parish in Denver, CO. Joe is predeceased by his son, Read Scott Caudill, a painter by trade in southeast FL, his father, Dennis D. Caudill, a school principal at Lake worth High School, in Palm Beach County and his mother, Vivian A. Shepard, a social worker and Director of the PBC Welfare Department.
Joe graduated from Lake Worth High School in Palm Beach County, Florida where he played the saxophone as a member of the high school band. Music, especially Jazz and Big Band, has been a constant joy in his life. He attended Palm Beach County Junior College and received a BA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, FL.
Joe began a career as an insurance adjuster working on liability claims. This background , involving locating and interviewing witnesses, motivated him to form his own business as a private investigator. For 40 years he did investigations for attorneys, insurance companies, and private individuals. He also specialized in locating missing heirs or beneficiaries to estates, and in helping facilitate them getting their inheritances.
Joe had a unique perspective on life. He perceived angles that others did not, often with humor and creativity. He was a problem solver, always willing to help. His presence will be sorely missed.
There will be a private viewing for immediate family. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
