Joseph R. Falconetti Sr. Age 91, born in Jersey City, NJ. He was a decorated veteran in WWII in the Army Air Corps where he was a B-24 armorer and tail gunner completing 32 bombing missions. He was shot down on his 30th mission and evaded capture. Joseph collaborated with the Yugoslavian partisans and rescued captured American soldiers. Upon returning to his base in Manduria, Italy he flew two more missions. On his last mission his plane was severely damaged. The pilot, co-pilot, bombardier and radio man were severely injured. He took care of the wounded and flew the airplane back to Manduria. Joseph was a 22 year veteran and retired as a Chief of the Littleton Fire Dept. where he introduced the Paramedic program to the City of Littleton. He was a clothing designer for Roy Rogers, Dale Evans & Edith Head. Joseph was a Scout Master for the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He was also a co-director of the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol. Joseph was unable to fulfill his dreams of pitching baseballs for the New York Giants due to the outbreak of WWII. Survived by children Edward (Jeanette) Falconetti , Janet (Gary) Crawley, Joseph Falconetti Jr., Judy (Bill) Zentner; grandchildren Andy, Angela, Michael, John, Adam, Kimberly, Daniel Joseph; great-grandchildren Zachary, Robert, Andrew, Henry, Natalie, Lauren; sister Nancy De Filippo; brother Eugene Falconetti. Preceded in death by wife Martha D. Falconetti. The Rosary will be recited in his honor on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 7:30 PM in the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 11:30 PM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 5612 South Hickory Circle, Littleton, Colorado. Interment will be Thurday, June 25, 2015 at One-thrity in the Afternoon at Ft. Logan National Cemetery, 3398 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado.
