Joseph P. Howell, age 70, passed away on February 11th, 2025, with his wife and children by his side. Joe was born in Bellingham, WA and grew up in Port Angeles with his 12 brothers and sisters. He was an active kid, playing baseball, basketball, and football, later going on to play football at Walla Walla University.
In 1975 at 20 years old, he moved to Colorado with his friends Rick and "Bear" looking for a big adventure. There, the prom king met mischievous Kathleen Vifquain, and they married 7 years later. Joe loved to be outdoors and taught Kathleen to camp; Kathleen then taught him how to ride a jet ski. The two of them took many trips to camp and fish together. He was a proud and devout husband and father. In 1989, Joe and Kathleen welcomed their first child Meagan. Their second child, David, was born two years later. Joe shared his love of the outdoors, joy for sports, and general resourcefulness with his children. He was an avid coffee drinker, sweets aficionado, and enjoyed being handy and learning new technology. He was an early adopter of AOL and would also go on to teach his kids to be tech-savvy.
Joe's boisterous laugh, sincerity, and sneak tickle attacks will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife Kathleen, daughter Meagan, son David, two grandchildren Noah and Remi, several siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Patsy, his brother Buzz, and sisters Kathy and Theresa.
