Joseph "Joe" Edward Waters, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dedicated friend, passed away on February 20, 2025, from complications related to a stroke. He was born on September 26, 1930, in Denver, Colorado, to Lindsay and Gertrude Waters, joining his twin sister, Josephine, in their journey through life.
A proud native of Denver, Joe's formative years were spent in Catholic schools before he graduated from Regis High School and Regis College. His commitment to service led him to join the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably as a Captain during the Korean War. His experiences during this pivotal time in history shaped him into the strong and principled individual that family and friends came to cherish.
In 1955, Joe married the love of his life, Madonna Waters. Their 65 years of marriage were marked by devotion and shared journeying, which included extensive travels across the United States, Mexico, and Europe. Together, they established a nurturing environment for their only son, Stephen; later extending to daughter-in-law, Martha Lane Waters. Joe's pride was immense for his two granddaughters, Meghan Waters DelNegro and Susanne Waters, and he became a compassionate and loving great-grandfather to Laney Del Negro and Lucy Del Negro.
Joe enjoyed a successful career, dedicating 35 years of his professional life to HW Moore Heavy Equipment Company, where he retired as General Manager in 1985. A true Denver Broncos enthusiast, he passionately supported his team through the highs and lows since 1960 with an unwavering loyalty that endeared him to fellow fans.
In his last year, Joe moved to New Hampshire to live with his son and daughter-in-law, but continued to maintain his connections with his extended family.
A memorial service to honor Joseph "Joe" Edward Waters will be held on March 11, 2025, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Sheridan, Colorado. The schedule of events begins with a service at 10:30 AM, followed by a reception at 11:30 AM. Following the church services, a committal service will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Exeter Hospital Progressive Care Unit for their exceptional care and compassion during Joe's final days. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure to know him.
