Joseph Maurelli, Jr.

Joseph Maurelli, Jr. was born on November 21, 1942 in Buffalo, New York and passed away on May 17, 2011 in Aurora, Colorado. He is preceded in death by his parents Guiseppe Maurelli, Sr. and Filomena Battaglia Maurelli. He is also preceded in death by two of his Grandchildren Lilah and Soleil Schneider. He is survived by his wife Judith A. (Mitera) Maurelli and children Peter Maurelli and his wife Gina, Erin Maurelli and her husband Matthew Schneider, and Gino Maurelli and his wife Jody. He is also survived by his Grandchildren Marissa Maurelli, Donavan Maurelli, Katherine Maurelli, Teagan Schneider, Mitera Maurelli, and Guy Maurelli. Joe is the loving brother of the late Eva Carmasina Hilderbrandt, the late Mary Ruth Vastola, Louis Adam Maurelli, John Andrew Maurelli, Virginia Carmela Maurelli, and Rebecca Rosa Wegner. A Memorial Service in Joseph's honor will be held on Sunday May 29, 2011 at Ten O'Clock in the morning at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at Parker Road. 11150 E Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. A Reception will also be held following the service at the HeartLight Center. Valle Escondito is the Maurelli Family retreat in the mountains of Northern New Mexico. It is there that Joe will be remembered and missed. Throughout his life, Joe found joy in two things; the simplicity of children at play, and God's great outdoors. This is the legacy his family has chosen to honor. Memorial gifts and contributions will go to rebuilding the children's play-area at Valle Escondito in Joe's honor; with the hope of providing a safe place to play and experience the outdoors to all children who visit there.
