Joseph Thomas Sixta

June 17, 1952 — April 29, 2012

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away April 29, 2012.

Joe was a successful and accomplished businessman, who started several of his own businesses and continued working up until his final days. He had a passion for all types of agriculture and loved getting his hands dirty out on the family farm. He was also a self-taught pianist and amateur historian, with an emphasis on WWII history.

Joe fittingly passed away on the feast of the Good Shepherd. He was a good shepherd to his entire family; loving and caring, instructing and guiding. As a father, Joe used every family moment as a teaching moment. The most important lesson he taught was that as individuals we are weak and vulnerable, but as a family we are strong and indestructible. Joe always told you exactly what you needed to hear at exactly the right time to get you back on the right track.

His love of family extended beyond his immediate family, as he inspired so many people in his everyday life. He took every opportunity he had to speak directly with each of his nieces and nephews, to learn more about their lives, and impart his knowledge and guidance. In his final days, Joe received a multitude of messages from friends, family and colleagues who told their own stories on moments of inspiration for which Joe was responsible. To Joe, it mattered not who you were, but how you utilized your God-given gifts.

Despite his painful 10 year struggle with cancer, Joe did not complain about the cross he had to bear. His pain and suffering were unspeakable, but he took on every day with a positive attitude.

His wisdom, his tenderness and his love will always resonate in our hearts and minds.

He is survived by his wife Mary Margaret Sixta; his children Erin Elizabeth Faloon (Jason), Nicholas Weber Sixta (Katie Doran), Katie Margaret Sixta, David Magette Sixta (Melissa Meier); his grandchildren Logan Joseph Faloon & Nora Kate Faloon; his father Joseph Vincent Sixta (Nancy); his sisters Janey Kuzila (Mark), Susie Taylor, Ruthie Wiseman (Rick), and Shelly Sullivan (Barry); his 14 nieces and nephews; and his 10 great-nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Mary Weber Sixta.
