Joseph ""Skip"" Tourtelot passed away on Sunday Sept, 20th at Collier Hospice Center outside Denver, CO. Born June 20, 1942, in Oak Park, IL, he succumbed to cancer. Joe is survived by his son, Joseph Shane Tourtelot, of Santa Monica, CA, his sisters Kay Vincent of Wheat Ridge, CO, Jeanne Welsh of Centennial, CO, Mary Anne Ball and Susan Tourtelot, both of Barrington, IL, and Barbara Tourtelot of Scuffleburg, VA, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by Patricia, his wife of 40 years. They were married in Honolulu in 1969 while he was serving as a First Lieutenant in the U.S Army Signal Corps in Viet Nam as a combat photographer. They started their life together in Denver where he worked for KVOD and KDEN, and soon moved to Palm Springs, CA, where they lived for 27 years. Having graduated from Denver University in 1966, majoring in Mass Communications he took the position of co-owner and general manager of KDES radio, ""The Oldies Station"". After Joe's retirement in 1997, they returned to Denver, where he devoted his life to the care of his wife, who passed away in April this year. He also dedicated time to The Broadcasting Professionals of Colorado, The Colorado Talking Book Library, The Forney Railroad Museum, and Jefferson County High School Athletic Assn. He was also the marketing director for Kwik Dry Clean Super Center in Arvada. A Memorial Mass will be held at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, on Friday Sept. 25th at 10 AM, followed by a military ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
