Josie lived at Brookdale Park Place Senior Living Community in Denver, Colorado
Josie passed away on Saturday, November 26th, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver. She died due to complications from pneumonia. She was 88 years old.
Josie was born on June 1, 1934 in Crested Butte, Colorado. Her family moved to Denver, Colorado when she was 6 years old.
Josie's parents were Raquel and Stella (Alarid) Cordova
Coming from a large family, she was the sixth out of seven children. Josie is survived by her youngest sibling, Pauline "Polly" Chavez
Deceased siblings include Paul Cordova , Gilbert Cordova, Anita Garcia, Ophelia Baiza and Joseph Cordova.
Josie leaves behind three children, four grandchildren, three great- grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, family and friends.

Great-grandchildren: Alex Carlson, Summer Carlson, J.J. Carlson
Josie graduated from Denver West High School in 1953 and worked at her father’s grocery store, Cordova Groceries, in west Denver until she married the love of her life, Joseph Costello on June 26th, 1955, at St. Cajetan Catholic Church in Denver.
Josie's dedication and commitment was to serve others. Her first and lifelong passion began when she graduated from the Stephen Ministry as a Grief Counselor. A woman of faith, she spent many years involved with the Denver Cursillo Movement, Kairos Ministry, Mariachi Alegre Choir, and various bible study groups.
Josie’s interests included yoga, water aerobics, bowling, Scrabble and visiting casinos with her sister. But most importantly, Josie was dedicated to her religion, husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. "All of these brought her the most Love and Happiness and joy"
Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022, 10:30am, All Saints Catholic Church, 2559 S. Federal Blvd., Denver. Burial will follow at 12pm, Staging Area A, Fort Logan National Cemetery.
