Josephine Dittmer

May 4, 1932 — March 8, 2012

Josephine Ruth Dittmer was born on May 4, 1932 to Edward and Ethel Snider. She grew up with three brothers, Charlie (who passed on at age 13), Edward and Carl, and seven sisters Edna, Iona, Elizabeth, Nellie, Ethel, Unice and Elmetta. Josephine wed Charles Ray Dittmer on July 23, 1949 at the age of seventeen. They remained married until his death on September 3, 2008 for 59 years. Josephine had three children, Charles, Susan and Lucille. She would later have eleven grandchildren, Jolynn, Jackie, Charlie, Eric, Samuel, Adam, Sarah, Thomas, Mary, Leah and Rachael, and twelve great grandchildren, Jordyn, Theodore, Megan, Blake, Kacie, Riley, Josie, Colton, Jaiden, Aurora, Ava and Tayah. Josephine was a devoted Christian, wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed her grandchildren and she was an exemplary example for all who knew her. Never thinking of herself, Josephine always lent a helping hand when called upon. There was no need to great to help her family if she was able to do so. Josephine enjoyed crocheting, movies and politics. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by all. Josephine is survived by her sister Ethel Cinnamon, her daughter Lucille Van Sciver (John) and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Dittmer, her son Charles Dittmer Jr., and her daughter Susan Winden. Services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on March 14, 2012, at 10:00 with a Memorial Service to follow at The River Community Church, 18668 North Street Vrain Drive, Lyons, Colorado.
