Josephine J. Keller, born in Emmett, Kansas on February 10, 1916, died on October 31, 2004 in Denver, Colorado. She was the beloved wife of the late Alec J. Keller and the beloved mother of Sharon Smith of Dayton, Ohio; Sandy (John) Blue of Denver; Mary Jo Keller of Denver; and Monica (Chris) Latkiewicz of Houston, Texas. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Emily Hutzel of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jessica Smith of Brooklyn, New York; Gina (Kevin) Gray of Dayton, Ohio; Brandon Blue of Denver; Lindsey Blue of Denver; Joe Durst of Portland, Oregon; Matthew Latkiewicz of Montague, Massachusetts; Joe Latkiewicz of Corvallis, Oregon; and Jenny Latkiewicz of College Station, Texas. Her great-grandchildren are Alec Hutzel of Cincinnati, Ohio; Jameson Hutzel (deceased); and Gabriel Gray of Dayton, Ohio. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Saturday, November 6, at Mother of God Catholic Church on Speer Boulevard at Logan Street, with a visitation one hour prior. She will be laid to rest at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to: Dominican Sisters Home Health Agency; 2501 Gaylord Street, Denver, Colorado 80205-5631. Josephine was raised in Canon City, Colorado in a family of eight children. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. In 1942, she married Alec Keller, who was an attorney in Denver. They raised four daughters. Josephine loved being a mother, entertaining relatives and friends, playing bridge, and traveling around the United States and Europe with Alec and friends. She was a loving grandma to all her grandchildren. She was always interested in other people and had a great ability to remember things about them. She was a loving, kind, and generous person, and always exemplified the virtues of hard work and honesty. She will be greatly missed.
