Joseph "Joe" Thibault

Joseph "Joe" Peter Thibault , 91 years old of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on July 1, 2022 from natural causes. Joe was born in Fort Colins Colorado January, 6th, 1931 to Joseph K. Thibault and Gretchen L. Youngblut. He had four siblings, one sister, three brothers; survived by his sister Barbara, youngest brother Jerry.

He served in the United States Coast Guard from April 1949 to August 1952 aboard the CGC Escanaba (V64) stationed out of Alameda California.

He met the love of his life, Maureen (Moe) Dougherty, at the Schussbaumer Ski Club and they were married July 3rd, 1954. They started their lives in Denver Colorado and eventually had a house built in Lakewood Colorado. He is survived by five kids, nine grandkids and three great-grandkids.

He worked at Bob's Pizzaria and worked at a floral company where he would supply Moe fresh carnations for the home. In 1963, he took a job with the city of Denver working as Lead Field Engineer at Stapleton Airport. He eventually retired as a Civil Engineer, after the construction of Denver International Airport runways and terminals, in February, 1993.

He always had a love for woodworking and he perfected his craft during his retirement years. Joe and Moe enjoyed frequent adventures camping and traveling abroad with family and friends

A memorial service will be held at Horan & McConaty for Joe on Friday, July 8th at 10:00 a.m. located at 3101 S. Wadsworth, Lakewood Colorado. Military internment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery (Pavilion A) on Monday, July 18th at 9:00 a.m.
