Joshua ""Josh"" C. Durand

Joshua C. ""Josh"" Durand, 36, of Denver, Colorado, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, in Denver, CO. Memorial service will be Friday, July 25, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home at 9998 Grant St., Thornton, CO. Josh's cousin Pastor Nathan French will officiate. Josh was born March 6, 1978, at Ord, NE. He was the son of Kenneth and Valarie (Fruit) Durand. Survivors of the include his father and stepmother, Kenneth and Christine Durand of Grand Island, NE; mother, Valarie Fruit of Discovery Bay, CA; two sisters, Jennifer and husband Marc Caro of Tucson, AZ; Katie Durand of Grand Island, NE; brother, Bradley Durand of Grand Island, NE; grandparents, William and Nancy French of Lexington, NE; John and Gertrude Durand of Ord, NE, Fiancé, Natasha Elliott and her son, Karsson of Denver, CO Josh grew up in Ord, NE until 1985 when he moved to Lincoln, NE. He graduated from Papillion La Vista High School in 1996. He worked construction until 2002 when he moved to Tucson, AZ. He was a correction officer for the Arizona Penitentiary, also instructing defense classes to the penitentiary guards. He moved to Denver, CO, in 2012 where he worked as a Conductor for the UPRR. He had a black belt in Taekwondo and was an avid Husker football fan. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross or the donor's choice. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Mildred Schneider.
