Joyce Adelaide Bishop

December 10th, 1930 - September 14th, 2024 

Joyce Adelaide Bishop, of Lakewood, went to be with her Savior September 14th, 2024. Born December 10th, 1930 to Celestine and George Pohl of Wheaton, Minnesota. Joyce grew up alongside four siblings on the family farm in Rosholt, South Dakota. 

After graduating from St. Francis Hospital School in 1951, Joyce moved to Denver in 1952 to pursue her nursing career. There she met her love, Edward Bishop and the couple was later married July 3rd 1954. Edward and Joyce had ten children together. After Edward's passing in 1982, Joyce remarried Horace Myers in 1987 and enjoyed many years of companionship and travel. 

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; Celestine and George Pohl; siblings; Dorothy and Audrey; husbands Edward Bishop and Horace Myers; and son Paul Bishop. Joyce is survived by her siblings, Marion and George; her children Deborah (Charles), JoAnn (Russell), Jeffrey, Sandra (David), Daniel, Diane (Mark), Andrew (Paula), Paul (survived by Kim), Marie, and Kimberly (Michael); twenty-two grandchildren; and thirty-two great grandchildren. 

Always fashionable, Joyce had a fondness for ice cream, chess, antiquing, travel, and all life had to offer. Her kindness, compassion, and caring for others will remain in our hearts forever. 

Rosary 10:00 a.m., Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m, Monday September 23rd, 2024

St. Jude Catholic Church, 9405 W Florida Ave, Lakewood CO 80232. 

Reception to follow Mass

Burial 2:00 p.m at Mount Olivet Cemetery 

The family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in lieu of flowers.
