Joyce Walker Free, age 91, died August 5th, 2015 following a short illness. Born in Chicago, IL, she had lived in Philadelphia, PA, Toronto, Canada, St. Louis, MO, Morristown and Hackettstown, NJ. In 2002, she moved to a retirement community in the Denver area. A registered nurse, Mrs. Free served in the healthcare industry for most of her career. Her undergraduate degree was obtained at Northwestern University. She received her Ed.M. with a certificate in Educational Gerontology from Rutgers, The State University in 1981. She became a licensed Nursing Home Administrator of New Jersey in 1983. She was listed in Who's Who in American Nursing and was published in RN Magazine. In addition to her professional activities she was an avid gardener and loved to read. She volunteered as the Librarian at her retirement community. Her beloved husband, The Rev. Henry Free died in 1989. She is survived by her four children and their families: Jennifer Free of Hackettstown, NJ; Stephanie and Fred Wilcoxson and her grandchildren Jay and Carrie, and her great grandson, Oliver of Larkspur, CO and Boston, MA; Gregory and Cindy Free and her grandchildren, Chris, Ryan and Brittany, and her great granddaughter, Hailey of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Pensacola, FL; Karen and Chris Ostrowski and her granddaughter Kelsey of Highlands Ranch, CO. She is also survived by her sister Fay Watkins of Colorado Springs, CO. Since moving to Colorado, she was a communicant of St. Gregory's Episcopal Church in Littleton. A Memorial service will be held there on Wednesday, August 12 at 10:30am and a reception immediately following in the parish house.
