Joyce Alice Wyatt, age 76, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2024 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette, CO. She was born on August 2, 1947 in Durango, Colorado to Hubert and Stella Morrison and was the middle of 9 children. She made her choice to serve God in August 1961 and kept her faith throughout her lifetime.
She graduated from Bayfield High School in 1965 and became a secretary. A few years after graduation, she moved to California where she met and married Wayne Wyatt. They moved back to Colorado in 1972.
She was able to do home childcare for about 50 years before retiring in August 2021. During that time, she helped to raise over 200 children. Many became like family members and were always part of her heart. She loved her calling and missed the children when she retired. She especially missed rocking the babies. She loved to see her former babysitting kids come visit or send pictures or call. She was even lucky enough to have a second generation set of kids in her care. She watched children days, nights, and weekends and became known as Joycee to them over the years. She had a no-nonsense, stern voice, but a loving heart and arms full of hugs.
She had many titles: Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Mom, and Joycee, but her favorite title by far was Lolli. She had three grandchildren that her world revolved around. She had a special bond with Brooklin, Traybin, and Koltin and would do anything for them and loved to spoil them. She especially loved to play with them and teach them – whether it was letters and numbers, reading, cooking, doing yard work, using tools, or playing ball.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Mirenda Ann, husband Wayne, brother Lawrence, and brother Stanley. She is survived by her children, Glenda (Darrell) McCord of Thornton, Tonya Wyatt of Arvada, Stanley (Jenni) Wyatt of Golden, and grandchildren, Brooklin, Traybin, and Koltin. She is also survived by six siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and more “adopted” family than you can count. She will be missed greatly.
