Judith Lee Acre, was born July 14, 1942 to Mose and Olga Fernandez in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from Lutheran High School and attended Trinidad State Jr. College and then Northeastern Jr. College. While there, she met the love of her life Ronald Wayne Acre, a teacher at Sterling Jr. High School.  They were married for 51 years and enjoyed traveling to Santa Fe and enjoying all that it had to offer.

Judi was employed by the Denver Post for over 33 years working in the library.  She was responsible for the photo collection (with over 2 million photos) color and black and white, archiving them as well as researching stories for staff reporters on computer and in the paper library.

Judi began volunteering at the Denver Art Museum in 1998 and was doing so at the time of her death. She particularly enjoyed the Native Arts collection.

She had many different hobbies including early morning exercise in the pool, bird watching, being a foodie, beading, silk ribbon embroidery, needle point and cross stitch. She belonged to Embroiderer’s Guild of America, American Needlepoint Guild (former board of director’s member), Friends of Counted Embroidery and Sampler Guild of the Rockies (founder). Judi was a licensed silk embroiderer teacher.

Judi is survived by many Acre family members.  Contributions may be made to Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, 14500 Lark Bunting Lane, Brighton, CO 80603 (www.birdconservancy.org)
