Judith Diane Fritzel

Judith Diane Fritzel, 73, passed away suddenly April 22, 2017 in Littleton, CO. She was born May 1, 1943 in Pueblo, CO to George and Catherine Swick. She had a large family including six brothers and sisters whom she treasured, George, Nancy, Becky, Donald, Bobby and Jimmy. Judith graduated from Pueblo Catholic High School in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart William Joseph Fritzel December 1, 1962 and worked at St. Mary Corwin Hospital. They moved to Boulder, CO in 1964 to put Bill through law school. Judith worked at Neodata to support Bill through college. They raised two children, Michael & Cynthia in Boulder after Bill graduated. God blessed Judy and Bill with Michael, their son who had Muscular Dystrophy. Judy devoted 17 years to her son and he was the love of her life. After Michael's death, she re-entered the work force joining Lifecare as an invaluable employee and friend for 18 years. She move to Highlands Ranch, CO in 1994 to be closer to her precious grandchildren Jessica and Jimmy. Judy worked at Cottrell in Centennial, CO before retiring in 1998. She enjoyed her retirement and pursued many hobbies. Judy was extremely creative and taught herself to knit, sew and quilt. She loved reading, traveling, jewelry making and sports, especially her Rockies. She knitted hats and scarfs for the homeless. Family members were blessed by her many handmade quilts and gifts. Her Christian faith carried her through every joy and sadness. Judy was a devout Catholic and said the rosary every day. Her greatest joy was her family whom she adored. Judy was preceded in death by her parents George and Catherine; son Michael; brother George; sister Nancy. She is survived by husband William; daughter Cynthia Owsley; grandchildren Jessica Owsley, Jimmy Owsley; brothers and sisters Becky, Donald (Sherry), Bobby (Debbie), Jimmy; brother-in-law Bob; many precious nieces and nephews. Judy will be remembered for her generous heart, the grace in which she carried herself and a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. A recitation of the rosary will be held on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street, Centennial. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Muscular Dystrophy Association National Office, 222 S. Riverside Plaza, Suite 1500, Chicago, IL 60606.
