Judith McTernan (“Judi”) passed away suddenly on Monday, November 15th at the age of 81.
She was born on March 30, 1940 to parents Helen and George McTernan, and spent her young childhood in Newark, New Jersey. Her father passed away unexpectedly when Judi was just 12, however she was supported throughout her life by the especially close relationships she shared with her mother, brother Dennis, and cousins Peter and Kathleen. The family moved to Denver in 1958, and Helen eventually bought the family home in which Judi lived to the end of her life. The McTernans were active members of the church; Judi attended services faithfully at Saint Vincent de Paul Parish and took great pride in volunteering through the church. She had a long career at the EPA, where she worked as an executive assistant in EPA's Office of General Counsel. She loved being with family, and enjoyed her daily calls with her brother and cousin, and making scrapbooks of family photos. You could always count on Judi to stay on top of the family news with relatives far and wide through email and Facebook. She was an avid Broncos fan. Judi was also an adventurous traveler. While Helen was still alive, the two of them went on many international trips, including to Israel, Rome, and Ireland. Judi also took many trips on her own through a church group all over the United States, and loved to share stories and photographs of these experiences. Judi adored giving gifts to people. She was an artistic soul who wrote poetry, drew pictures, and generally radiated creativity through her style and mannerisms. Her annual Christmas often included amazing accounts of her year, all set in verse! She made friends wherever she went, and will be remembered as someone who lived her life authentically, generously and joyfully.
She leaves behind countless friends, as well as brother Dennis McTernan and his wife Carolyn McTernan and nephews Michael, Brian and Peter; cousin Peter Myers and his wife Gail Myers; cousin Kathleen Nelson; and cousin Terri Bianchi and husband Robert (Bob) Bianchi, and many other relatives.
