Judith Ann Ramsey

Judith Ann Ramsey, 78, of Aurora, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Medical Center of Aurora, surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 22, 1939, she was the daughter of Cecil C. and Margaret E. (Graham) Robinson. Judith served as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years. After earning her BS in Nursing from the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, she started working at the Hospital in Colorado Springs where she met James, fell in love, and married in 1962. After raising her daughters and participating within the parish and local communities, she returned to the nursing field when she joined the team at Mt. Airy Psychiatric hospital. She cared for patients there until the hospital closed in the 90’s, at which point she directed her talents and skills towards those in need of Hospice care. As a nurse for the Hospice of Metro Denver, Judith provided loving aid and most needed help to those facing the end of life decisions and challenges. Her support to the families and individuals served by hospice are treasured gifts that we are all grateful for. Among the many things that Judith enjoyed, her love of family, friends, and the Lord were ranked the highest in her heart. A close second, however, was her love of reading and being captured by a story, learning from the wisdom within books. Judith also had a bit of her father’s pioneer spirit inside her, shown by her love of traveling and exploring new places. She was lucky to have taken beautiful trips with her family to Hawaii, Mexico, the west coast, and other destinations. Her desire to explore also gave her a passion for learning about her own family history, and investigating the past. She discovered a great deal of information about her ancestors, and learned about their fascinating lives. Being a woman of the West, growing up in Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, Judith enjoyed the great outdoors, loved the mountains, hiking, fishing, gardening, and photographing the beauty of God’s creation. Her love of animals enriched her throughout her life and she shared many a fun laugh with her furry friends. Judith had a great love of playing games, especially card games. She had the privilege of playing cards regularly with some of her closest friends, making memories and bringing light and love to each other. She was also a devoted sports fan and cheered on our beloved Broncos, the Nuggets and Rockies, and every team from the Bears to the Avalanche. The good times were abundant when mom shared the music of Joplin, Celtic Thunder, Chopin, John Denver, Johnny Cash, and The Limelighters with family and friends. The joy that music and dance brought Judith was a pleasure for everyone. As a talented seamstress, having learned from her mother, she showed devotion and creativity while handcrafting many dresses and outfits for her girls. From birth to marriage and on, she took great pleasure in seeing them wear these gifts of her love. Serving others was something that Judith made a priority in her life. Whether this was her time spent as a nurse, the many charities she gave to during her life, serving her family and friends in times of need, or praying for others, she knew that service to others was important, and always did her best to help the vulnerable and needy. She is survived by her daughters: Ruth Ramsey, Miriam (Bob) Gentile, Patricia (Martin Block) Ramsey, and Meredith (Ed) Haun, and; her 4 grandchildren: Bailey Smith, Ramsey Smith, Rachel Haun, and Eddie Haun. Judith is predeceased by her husband James E. Ramsey, Jr.; her mother, Margaret; father, Cecil; and brother, Floyd Robinson. A Rosary Service will be held on Sunday October 1, 2017, in the evening at 7PM at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, CO. 80014 A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 2, 2017 at 3PM at the same location.
