Juli Wenning

Julia (Juli) Mary (Okros) Wenning , age 71, passed away at her home in Lakewood, Colorado on August 6, 2022. Juli was born in Detroit, Michigan on February 13, 1951. She lived in Michigan with her loving family throughout her childhood, and in 1969, she graduated from St. Clement Catholic High School in Center Line. When Juli was 25, she moved to Colorado, where she met and married Tom Wenning, her husband of 22 years. Juli devoted her life to her daughter, Rhiannon, and to her work as an administrative assistant for the Developmental Disabilities Resource Center (DDRC); after a 40-year career, she had recently retired from DDRC in February.

Juli loved and lived fiercely on her terms and was a compassionate, creative, smart, strong, independent, and loving woman, mother, friend, girlfriend, sister, aunt, and colleague. She was a healer, mystic, animal lover, and was a strong advocate for inclusion, justice, education, and veterans. She loved to draw, paint, create, watch fireworks, and take trips to the mountains and deserts of Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona.

Juli is survived by her daughter Rhiannon Wenning of Lakewood, siblings Annette Durphey and Harry Okros of Michigan, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grand nieces, grand nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Esther Okros and brother Steve Okros.

A celebration of Juli's life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 2:00PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado.
