Julia 'Julie' Corwin Morris

November 7, 1948 — September 11, 2011

Julia ""Julie"" Corwin (Horton) Morris November 7, 1948 - September 11, 2011 On a beautiful, sunny, Sunday afternoon, Julie passed peacefully surrounded by the love of her family. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, she was the oldest of three children of the late Harold Raymond Horton and Mary Sibley (Finch) Horton. She is survived by her daughter Kristin Allen (Morris) Wyeth of Plymouth, MN, her son Robert Corwin Morris and his wife Jeanne Pauline (Faiks) Morris of Aurora, CO, her daughter Melissa Nielson (Morris) McNitt and her husband Richard William McNitt of Strasburg, CO and 3 grandchildren, Lauren Ashley Wyeth, 20, of Plymouth, MN, Alyssa Pauline Morris, 13, and Robert Alexander Morris, 9, of Aurora, CO. She is also survived by her two brothers, Steven Finch Horton and his wife Paula Marie (Lussier) Horton of Pawtucket, RI and David Todd Horton of Danvers, MA, and numerous extended family members. In addition, she also gave the gift of a son to a family who desperately wanted one, Derrick Patrick Crawford of Port Ewen, NY. Above all, Julie was an extremely loving mother. She took great pride in her children and loved nothing more than spoiling them. When they were little, she would create special activities for them and always included them in her numerous craft projects. After they grew up and lived on their own, she relished buying special things, especially if it was a great deal, to show them she was thinking of them. And no matter where her children went, everyone always would tell them how often she spoke of them and how special they all were to her. She also adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them. And for each occasion or holiday, she would always have a special treat for them. When it came to holidays, the term ""very enthusiastic"" could be used to describe her. Whether it was making Halloween costumes from scratch with a common theme between her kids to having individual Christmas trees in every room in the house, she immersed herself in the holiday completely. She would even participate herself in the holiday celebration, be it just dressing in the colors of the season or a full persona including the Wicked Witch of the West or Mrs. Claus. Her other passions in life included gardening, spending time with her pets and making other people happy. She enjoyed making friends everywhere she went especially within her long career in customer service. She also was known to be a mother-figure to many of those around her. Everyone who met her always said she was a wonderful lady. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 10:00am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, CO 80014. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family requests plants or perennials that can be enjoyed for years to come to honor Julie's passion for gardening. If preferred, donations may be made to Foothills Animal Shelter, Denver Botanic Gardens, or The Butterfly Pavilion.
