Julia Ann Powell (nee Thompson), peacefully passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Sandalwood Manor Nursing Home in Wheat Ridge, Colorado, at the age of 89 years. She is survived by her son, Judge Daniel Paul Powell, of Alamosa, Colorado, her granddaughter, Chelsea MacIntyre, and Great-Granddaughter, Serena Culliton, both of Ortonville, Michigan, and her Grandson, Bradley MacIntyre of Whitmore Lake, Michigan. Julia was preceded in death by her father, Charles Thompson, her mother, Pearl Frances Thompson (nee Eilers), her son, Bryan Charles Powell, her daughter, Lori Frances Powell, and by her daughter, Jeri Sue Powell MacIntyre. Julia was born on December 30, 1926 at her family's homestead farm in Jewell County, Kansas. She was a 1944 graduate of Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California. Julia worked for many years as a mortgage loan processor, first in her ancestral home of Mankato, Kansas and later with Mortgage Institute Company of Westminster, Colorado. She proudly raised her four children as a single mother in the home she purchased in 1961, in Northglenn, Colorado. She was a wise and loving woman, whose children were her life blood. Her wit and sense of humor were enjoyed by all with whom she came in contact. She will be sorely missed in this life by family and friends alike. A Celebration of the Life of Julia A. Powell will be held at the Horan & McConaty funeral home at 9998 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00AM.
