Julian ""Red"" Fernandez, 96, passed away in his loving, caring home on April 13, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. He was born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico on November 6, 1920 to John and Mary Fernandez. He truly enjoyed growing up and working on the family farms in Dacono, Colorado and Maxwell, New Mexico. He married the love of his life, Bessie Trujillo on September 27, 1962. They had their only son one year later. His life revolved around the Seventh Day Adventist Church and his family. Julian was an extremely hard working man who was dedicated, honest, loving, and kind with never a harsh or mean word towards anyone. He worked tirelessly in construction as a Union, Water Truck Driver to take care of his family, but NEVER on a Saturday. After the death of his wife on November 2, 1988, Julian immediately moved in with his son and daughter-in-law and their growing family where he happily remained for the rest of his life. Julian was a very special, kind-hearted, loving man who will be missed by many but NEVER forgotten. His acts of compassion and kindness reverberate always. You were truly loved as a brother, father, uncle, grandpa, great grandpa and friend. We miss you and will always love you. Julian was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bessie Trujillo Fernandez, both of his parents, John & Mary; and four sisters, Bessie, Hope, Percidy and Evangeline. He is survived by his son, Daniel S. Fernandez; Caregiver and former Daughter-in-Law, Charlie-Marie Strait and her husband Philip Strait; four Grandchildren, Danielle, Amanda and her husband Jorge Jaimes, Ben and Alex; 2 Great Grandchildren, Julia Marie and Orlando; and a third Great Granddaughter to be born in August; four Brothers, Onesimo, Ezekial, John and Bob; One Sister, Priscilla; many Nieces and Nephews; and many, many more friends and family. A viewing will be held in Colorado on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, beginning at 3:00pm, followed by a Funeral Service, to begin at 4:00pm, at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 S. Grant Street, Thornton, CO 80229. A Reception will follow the Funeral Service at Horan & McConaty. An Graveside service will be held in New Mexico on Friday, April 21, 2017, at 1:00pm, at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul N.E., Albuquerque, New Mexico. A Reception will be held at 3pm, at Daniels Family Funeral Services, 2400 Southern Blvd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
