Julie Lynn McCune, age 58, of Golden, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 5th, 2018 at Denver Hospice.
Julie was born to Karl and Shirley Meisel in El Paso, Texas, on September 24, 1959. An army brat, during her childhood she lived in many states, but especially enjoyed the time her family lived in Germany. She attended the University of Kansas, where she earned her bachelor's degree in education. She worked as a substitute teacher, and front-office staff in the medical field before leaving the workforce to raise her children.
Julie enjoyed being active in her community and volunteered at local schools, as a girl scout leader, and with her church to help prepare meals for people experiencing homelessness. In addition to her community work, Julie loved cheering for the Kansas Jayhawks and the Denver Broncos, riding her motorcycle, and most of all, being a mom to her two daughters.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Karl H Meisel Jr. She is survived by her mother Shirley Meisel of Topeka, Kansas, and her daughters Katie McCune (partner Nicholas Alvey) and Mollie McCune, both of Golden, Colorado. She is also survived by her brothers Karl Meisel III (partner Jackie Procknow) of Des Moines, Iowa, and Mark Meisel (partner Joy Meisel) of Leawood, Kansas, and her ex-husband Daniel McCune of Golden, Colorado.
