June Sophie Polakovic, age 91, died at Abby’s Assisted Living in Denver, Colorado, on August 17, 2020. She died of natural causes having suffered from dementia for several years.
June was born June 10, 1929, in Cicero, Illinois. She was married to Frederick J. Polakovic shortly after her 18th birthday in 1947. June and Fred lived in the Chicago area thereafter until moving, with their four children, from Downers Grove to Dayton, Wyoming, in 1968. In the late 1970s, June and Fred moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico, where Fred died in 2014.
June worked as a secretary, a legal secretary, a proprietor of a variety of businesses including a motel/campground/laundry operation and a pottery retail business, and retired in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 2013 as a successful realtor. June was a Roman Catholic.
Survivors include: her four children, Carol Lewis (Randy), San Clemente, California, Patricia Forbes (Neal), Saratoga, Wyoming, Michael Polakovic (Therese), Highlands Ranch, Colorado, and Matt Polakovic (Nancy), San Diego, California, seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty Mortuary (5303 East County Road, Littleton, Colorado) on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at 5:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church (9905 Foothills Canyon Boulevard, Highlands Ranch, Colorado) on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. The burial services will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery (4400 W. Kenyon Avenue, Denver, Colorado) on Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, 1965 Michigan Avenue, Alma, Michigan 48801 would be preferred.
