Glenn and June were married on September 1, 1946, in Pueblo, Colorado, at Broadway Christian Church. It has been said of a marriage, “As you begin, so shall you end.” Their faith strengthened Glenn and June through many trying tests. June continued to sing “Jesus Loves Me” until she passed.
A supportive wife, Christian guide, homemaker, and mother, June was involved in her Church and all Bible school activities, scouting support, memorable family vacations, music lessons, chores, library, and all things that grow kids. She had a soft spot in her heart for the many family pets that go way back to her early years on the farm with Tootsie and Midge. Her nurturing spirit was also evident in her care of plants. Most of all, her family continued to be precious to her, always.
During her lifetime, June lived in Penrose, CO, Pueblo, CO, Los Alamos and White Rock, NM, and the Denver-Littleton-Highlands Ranch area, CO. When June was in 8th grade, she became the Fremont County Spelling Bee Champion. She was always a strong Scrabble competitor (although Glenn and June had their own rules). June graduated from Pueblo Centennial High School and went on to nurses’ training with the Cadet Corp Nursing Program. The arrival of her family interrupted career plans. June later graduated from Arapaho Junior College with an Associates Degree as a Medical Assistant. Her administrative skills led to a position as Faculty Secretary at Loretto Heights College in Denver, CO. June was a life-long learner.
June was music: She began playing the piano at the age of four and blessed us with her talent throughout her entire life. She exceeded her teacher’s teachings at the Hardwick Music Studio in Pueblo, CO, and was awarded a teaching position. Her beloved organ was placed in the basement at their townhouse: Neighbors related how very much they loved to hear her exquisite music, remarking they could even feel the sound in the ground! A precious memory of her children is her playing them to sleep with a nightly expression of her love from the piano.
A Memorial Service for June will be held January 7, 2022, at 2:30 at Horan McConanty Memorial Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO 80227.
