On Thursday, December 15, 2022, Justin Brells passed away at the age of 22. Justin was born in Littleton, Colorado, to loving parents Jerry and Kristi (Vehrs) Brells. Justin graduated from ThunderRidge High School where he played varsity soccer for four years. He was a senior at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs studying Criminal Justice and worked as an intern at the District Attorney’s Office. He was a member of the Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. For many years Justin worked for YSPN Youth Sports Photography and he was a Colorado Soccer Referee. He dreamed of becoming a police officer and planned to attend the Lakewood Police Academy after graduation.
Justin was an athlete and outdoorsman. He played competitive soccer with Colorado Storm and Real Colorado. He played volleyball, was a regular at the gym, and enjoyed golfing with friends. He loved skiing, camping, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles, ATVs, and UTVs. Justin loved Jeeps and upgraded them for off-road activities. He spent countless hours in his Jeep climbing rocks, crossing rivers, and splashing through mud and snow.
Justin was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Hans and Shirley (Gibson) Brells and his maternal grandfather, John Vehrs. He is survived by his parents, his brother Ethan and sister-in-law Kristen (Melon) Brells, and maternal grandmother Linda Vehrs. Aunts and uncles include John and Deborah Brells, Mitchell and Regina Brells, John and Leann Washabaugh, Eric and Tiffiny Vehrs, and Wayne and Sharon Vehrs. He is also survived by several cousins.
A celebration of life will be held on December 29, 2022 from 2-5pm at the Roxborough Park Foundation. 6237 Roxborough Dr., Littleton, CO 80125. Attendees are welcome to wear jeans, flannel, hoodies, and boots. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made in Justin’s name to the Colorado Fallen Hero Foundation ( www.cofallenhero.org ).
