Karen (Knestis) Taylor, age 85 of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away Saturday morning, January 28, 2023.
She was born February 23, 1937 in Blackfoot, Idaho. Daughter of the late Wallace and Lois Montague of Billings, Montana.
Karen is survived by her four children Karla James, Judy Hill, David Knestis, John Knestis; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two brothers Jay Montague and David Montague.
Karen worked as a teacher's aide with Jefferson County schools from 1975 until she retired in 1997. She then worked in the Bel Mar branch of Jeffco Libraries for several years. Karen also volunteered at the Glennon Heights Library in their Spellbinders reading program for children.
She was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha philanthropic sorority, Theta Eta chapter for over 25 years where she was awarded "Woman of the Year", and served in many leadership positions.
Karen was a world-wide traveler and adventurer. She enjoyed golfing, puzzles, playing bridge, Bunco, and knitting. She organized a knitting club to provide hats and scarves for the local homeless population.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2023, 2:00 pm, at the Green Mountain Presbyterian Church, 12900 W. Alameda Pkwy, Lakewood, CO.
