Karen Joyce Weissenbuehler

Karen Joyce Weissenbuehler, 81, of Lakewood, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018, at Brookdale Lakewood surrounded by her loving family. Born on June 28, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Reinhard and Ermyl (Myers) Dettmer. Karen was a pastor for 30 years serving the congregations of First Lutheran Church in Longmont, CO, and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Denver, CO. She was also an organist for 15 years and assisted with the Colorado Children’s Chorale. She dedicated her life to church, family, and music touching the lives of many through music and ministry. She is survived by her children, Mary Giles, Sarah Weissenbuehler, and Matthew Weissenbuehler, brother Waldean Dettmer, sister Wilma Kuhlman, nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service for Karen will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at 2:30PM at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 2300 S Patton Ct, Denver, CO 80219. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to The Gathering Place, Denver, CO, or Christ the King Lutheran Church, Denver, CO.
