Karl D. Smith

Karl D. Smith, 83, of Greenwood Village, passed away July 25, 2009. Born July 3, 1926 in Portsmouth, Ohio, he was a prominent businessman in the Denver area, having founded the Frontier Fire Protection Company nearly 50 years ago. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Romero; mother, Anna Lee Hagins; sister, Jean Grundstein; brothers, Glen and Paul Smith. He is survived by his daughters, Karla Smith and Lisa McHenry; grandchildren, Keisha McNeese, Talisha McHenry and D.J. McHenry; nephew, Ron Grundstein and his wife, Phyllis; great-nephews, Todd and Ryan. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 1, at 3:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3020 Federal Boulevard, Denver.
