Katharina Pozar

Katharina “Kathi” Pozar, 83, passed away on February 11, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones in Littleton, Colorado. Kathi was born in Diósberény, Hungary. She was one of three daughters of Emmerich Pinter and Walburga (Sonntag) Pinter.

She is survived by her daughters Karoline (Pozar) Knutson and Susan (Pozar) Clark; sons-in-law John Murphree and Craig Clark; grandchildren Matthew Neal and Rachel Lynn Murphree, Brian Mitchell Murphree, Nicole Ashley Knutson, Tyler Josef Knutson, Katrina Scarlett Clark and Courtney Sophia Clark; siblings Anni Maria Kienast and Terry (Rauser) Heide; brothers-in-law Manfred Kienast, Eduard (Edi) Pozar, and Alfred (Freddy) Pozar; and sisters-in-law Renate Pozar, Erika Pozar Küster, and Annemarie Pozar.

She was preceded in death by her husband Josef (Joe) Pozar; her daughter, Christine (Pozar) Murphree; brothers-in-law; Walter Rauser, Valentine Pozar, and Adolf Pozar; and sisters-in-law Wilhelmina (Minna) Pozar Kube, and Hilde Pozar Pläschke.

Kathi’s family moved to Geithain, Germany (formerly East Germany) in 1946 and then Krumbach, Germany in 1949. In 1956, they immigrated to the United States to live in Cleveland, Ohio. Kathi worked as a seamstress for Richmond Brothers. She met and married Joe in Cleveland and they ultimately moved their family to Denver in 1969. Not only was Kathi a homemaker; she was bookkeeper for Joe’s tool & die machine shop, and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed her garden and fruit trees, canning, sewing, scrapbooking and dancing. She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them.

One of Kathi & Joe’s favorite things to do was to go 4-wheeling and hunting for edible mushrooms with family. As the grandkids got older, this tradition was shared with all six grandchildren. If you ask any of them, they all have stories to tell about steinpilze.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday February 21st at 1:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of Holly Street) in Centennial. Please share your memories of Kathi and condolences with her family by signing the guestbook below.
