Katharine died on May 27 at the age of 86. She was a lifelong Denverite and a proud graduate of the Kent School, Vassar College and the University of Denver, Graduate Program of Library Sciences. She was a teacher and the Head Librarian at Graland Country Day School where she inspired so many young students to read and to appreciate books. She retired in 1988 after thirty one years. An avid art enthusiast, Katie represented and managed the art collection and Gallery/Studio of noted Colorado sculptor and her long-time companion, Edgar Britton. Always a lady, her passions included family, friends, exercise, museums, galleries, classical music, books, tea rose perfume and Saks Fifth Avenue. Katie was the family matriarch and provided guidance, care and compassion to her family and extended family. She always put the needs of others above her own. Katharine is survived by her two loving sons, David C. Dodge (Madeleine), and Donald K. Dodge (Jana) - both of Denver, three grandsons, Jason T. Dodge of Los Angeles, CA , Alexander L. Dodge of Brooklyn, NY and John C. B. Dodge of Prague, three nieces, Mary Jenson, Katharine Nanda and Ann Irving, a cousin, Vera Jean Schrepferman and three special god daughters, Katharine Strickland, Leli Sudler and Laurence Wert.
