Katherine ""Kay"" Sampson

Katherine ""Kay"" Sampson, 77, of Denver, passed away May 28, 2010. Beloved Mother of Kristin (Jimmy) Landes, Prudy (Steve) Crews, Mark (Carrie) Halcott, Dyke (Duana) Sampson, and her much loved Stoli; Sister of Robert Sparling; Grandmother of Tyler and Kelsey Landes; Kyle, Ryan, and Jacob Crews; Sarah, Ashley, and Dustin Halcott; Kaylee, Taylor, and Branden Sampson; Great Grandmother of Abigail and Juliana Johnson, and Natalie Ward. Preceded in death by her parents: Robert Henry and Florence Pearl Sparling. Kay was fiercely independent and passionate about animals, sports, politics, and world issues. She loved anything from planting a garden to cooking a four-star meal; from watching ""Dancing with the Stars"" to attending a Broadway play; from scouring consignment clothing shops to putting together outfits that were the envy of her friends; from knowing all the college football standings to each candidate's platform in any presidential race. Her love of animals, and a special fondness for cats, drew her to the Denver Dumb Friends League where she volunteered and adopted her beloved Stoli. Her involvement in her church brought her great joy and friendships through her prayer group. She gained strength through terrible tragedy in her life and used that strength to reach out to others in need. Kay was loved by her family and will be deeply missed. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, June 3, at 10:30am at Faith Presbyterian Church - 11373 E. Alameda Ave., Aurora. Reception will follow at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Denver Dumb Friends League - 2080 S. Quebec St., Denver, CO 80231. Please include with your donation a notation of ""In Memory of Kay Sampson"" Commitment services will be held in Michigan in late June.
