Kathy was born in Denver, Colorado to parents, Linda Sanchez and John Valdez. She was then raised by her mom Linda and step father Al Valesquez. She has three brothers, Ronnie (Linda, deceased) Valesquez, Gary (Theresa) Valesquez, and Chris Valesquez (deceased), and one sister, Louise (John, deceased) Daily.
She graduated from Adams City High in 1964. Kathy started dating Larry McKee in 1967 and they went on to get married on June 22, 1968. They had one beautiful daughter, Shannon Jergenson, born May 9, 1982.
Kathy worked at Spartans Department Store, cleaned apartments, worked at Kwal Paints. She eventually became a lunch lady with Mapleton Schools, a job she greatly enjoyed. Her last job was as an assistant manager with Rite Aid, where she worked until she retired in 2009.
Kathy had many hobbies including camping, fishing, bowling, horseshoes, decorating cakes and crocheting. She loved spending time with all of her family and friends. She loved to go to the property and the time share, she loved going on vacations which include many cruise’s. She was a very friendly person and had a wonderful smile, she was super outgoing, goofy and always up to try new things.
She loved being a mother and the moment she became a grandma she was overly excited. She has one granddaughter, Anya (Jesse) Burk and one great-granddaughter, Akasha Smith.
She spent lots of time at the Northglenn Elks Lodge doing volunteer work. She enjoyed being a spouse's member and having a place where she could go hangout and have a couple drinks with some of her friends. She attended Crossroads Church every Sunday morning and bowled on the Northglenn Elks Bowling League every Friday night.
The Celebration of life will be on Friday, March 14th at 12pm and held at Horan & McConaty Funeral Services and Cremation (9998 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229). There will be a reception after the service at 2pm held at the Northglenn Elks Lodge (10969 Irma Dr, Northglenn, CO 80233). The burial service will be on Monday, March 17th at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 11:00am.
