Kathleen Menefee Smith passed away in her home on February 3, 2019, after a long illness. Born June 15, 1941 in Dallas, Texas, she grew up in Henrietta, Texas. She attended Texas Tech and University of Northern Colorado. She later moved to Denver, Colorado, where she married Dennis Ford Smith.
Kathleen is survived by her sister Mary Harpold, and her three children: Susannah Smith, Emmett Smith, and Sarah Walker. She had four grand children: Melanie and Michael Walker, Nathaniel and Emma Louise Rundt-Smith. She also had three great grandchildren: Asher, Athena, and Alice Brus.
Kathleen enjoyed many vocations. She was a substitute teacher for Denver Public Schools and helped to run the Summer Activities program. She coached their girlsâ softball team. Kathleen was the Music and Choir Director at her parish, St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church. She enjoyed the arts. She was an inspiring painter, wrote short stories, played piano, and taught herself to play Celtic harp.
Visitation will be held between 6:00pm to 8:00pm with the Memorial Service at 7:00pm at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel at Colorado Boulevard and Missisippi Avenue on February 7th, 2019. Funeral Service to be at St. Herman of Alaska Orthodox Church in Littleton, CO, on February 8th, 2019 at 11:00am. Interment at Fairmount Cemetery to follow immediately after the service.
