Kathlyn V. Giannaula “Vi”, formerly of Spring Hill FL, Sequim WA, and Denville NJ passed away on April 11, 2022, at the Gardens of Columbine Assisted Living in Littleton, CO. Vi was born in Wolverhampton, U.K. on March 2, 1927. She spent a portion of her childhood in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) Africa where her father worked building railways. At the beginning of WWII, her family returned to England and “kept calm and carried on” like the rest of the nation. Toward the end of the war, she met her husband Anthony J. Giannaula when he was convalescing in England. At 19, she married and followed her husband to America with the other “war brides.” During their life together, they built several successful businesses, raised five children, and lived life to the fullest. The couple first retired to Washington and then to Florida. Vi is preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Eleanor Rhodes, husband Anthony Giannaula, sister Elizabeth Straughn, and daughter Pamela Mancuso. She is survived by daughters Cecilia Triggs (Kim) and Kathlyn Giannaula, and sons Paul Giannaula (Jane) and John Giannaula (Hollie). She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and her longtime companion Trevor Barnes.
“The highest tribute to the dead is not grief but gratitude.” — Thornton Wilder
A Celebration of Vi’s Life will be held on Friday April 22, 2022, at 2:00 at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel on County Line Rd in Centennial CO. Vi loved bright colors, especially yellow, and would very much prefer them to traditional funeral black.
