Kathryn Ann Bridge

January 10, 1920 — May 4, 2012

After 92 years of life, Kathryn (Kay) Ann Bridge passed away on May 4th in Denver, Colorado. Her life began on January 10th, 1920 in the small town of Conway Springs, Kansas with her parents Dale and Edith Wornom. Kay graduated High School in Woodward, Oklahoma in 1938 and proceeded on to Oklahoma A & M (now Oklahoma State) where she earned her degree as a registered dietitian in 1941. She later served in Europe during WWII as a 1st Lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps which spurred her later love for world travel. In August of 1945 she was en route across the United States to get on a hospital ship to go to the Pacific when they learned of the Allies victory. She was honorably discharged January 1946 and moved back to Chandler, Oklahoma where she met and then married Orval Loren Bridge on September 7, 1946. They then moved to Kansas where they had their 3 children, and, after moving several times, settled in Russell in June 1958. In 1975 she sadly lost Orval. Kay enjoyed her job as the dietitian for the Russell hospital and found further joy in volunteering for civic, community organizations and the Trinity United Methodist Church, but loved retirement most. She loved to sew and when she wasn't out helping others, she was at home sewing. As soon as she retired you could hear her say, ""I'm busier now than I was when I was working"", but then she would go into the stories of her recent travels all over the world. In 2006 she moved closer to her children in Denver, Colorado to spend as much time with them as she could. Kay is survived by one sister, Joyce Wright in Tulsa, Oklahoma, 2 daughters Edith Ann (Edie) and Maralyn Kay Bridge in Denver, Colorado, a son and his wife, O. Loren Bridge II and Chris in Fairplay, Colorado, one grandson, O. Loren Bridge III and 2 beautiful great granddaughters Brenna Grace and Cailyn Hope Bridge in Kansas City, Missouri. Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 11th at 10AM at The Villas at Sunny Acres in the lower level, 2501 East 104th Avenue, Denver, Colorado. There will also be a Memorial Service in Chandler, Oklahoma on Saturday, June 9th. Most important she was a great Mom! She was very proud of her and her husband's military service.
