On August 24th we lost our beloved sister, aunt, and friend, Katie. She passed away unexpectedly but peacefully at home in Denver, CO. Katie is preceded in death by her brother, Bob and parents, Sue, and Dick. Katie adored her Corgis, especially her Butters, and our hearts are warmed knowing she has been reunited with all of them.
Katie was born and raised in Mt. Prospect, IL. She attended Saint Raymond School, Sacred Heart of Mary High School, and Eastern Illinois University. After graduating college, she worked in public relations, and soon became a fun, passionate, hardworking trailblazer who would accomplish much in her career and in retirement.
She worked for many successful political campaigns but was most proud of her role during Pope John Paul’s II visit to Chicago and her final position in The Press Office of Communications for the Small Business Administration during the Clinton administration.
After retirement, Katie was incredibly generous with her time and service to others, especially those in recovery. During her tenure with Denver Health Hospital, Katie was a Peer Recovery Specialist and Volunteer of the Year 2021, completing more than 1500 hours of service.
