October 15, 1919 — September 23, 2006

Kathryn White Corning was born in Ogden, Utah October 15, 1919. Her parents were Eliza Larsen White and David Nicol White. She grew up in Ogden Utah with 2 brothers, Glen who was 12 years older and Seth who was 10 years older than she. She was also surrounded by many relatives in the Ogden area. She was Married to Hobart Munson Corning Jr., on August 19, 1940. They had three children, Hobart the third, Chris, and Holly. She is survived by two children, Hobe and Holly. She proudly has 5 grandchildren (Brook and Kristin children of her late son Chris, April, Marcie and Tara, children of her daughter Holly) and 1 great grandchild Christopher. She was very involved in all of her grandchildren's lives and taught them many things. She attended the University of Utah where she studied Art and more specifically portrait painting. Her love of painting stayed with her throughout her life as she was always taking art classes and learning new styles of painting. She loved beauty and saw it all around her. She loved to play golf and was a competitive player and an asset to her golf teams of earlier years. She loved reading and learning and teaching! She was good, very good at all she attempted. And never seemed frightened or timid about trying new things or learning new things. Katy was an excellent cook and entertainer. Her home was always decorated beautifully and was impeccable. She was very particular about how she looked and took great care in her wardrobe and grooming. She especially loved gardening and received a lot of joy from her garden and flowers. She was very active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in her church in capacities such as Den Mother, Primary Teacher (teaching young children), as well as teaching teenage girls. She worked in the Relief Society which is the churches organization for Women. In later years she organized special musical numbers for Sunday meetings. She was an avid participator in her gospel doctrine classes as well as Relief Society classes. Mexico and the Mexican people were a passion of hers. She and Hobe went to Mexico every year for about 3 months. They loved the warm weather, the golf, the food, the culture, the people and everything there was about Mexico. She made many friends there and learned to speak Spanish very well. She always expressed her love of the beauty all around her. She was quick to notice nature and little details that would easily be missed by others. She was very positive about her life and others around her. Her children express their love and admiration of their mother and are grateful to her many friends who have extended their sympathies and love.
