Kathryn ""Katy"" Griffith

August 3, 1951 — September 8, 2016

In the early morning hours of September 8, Katy, age 65, of Highlands Ranch passed away peacefully at The Denver Hospice. She was born and raised in North Platte, NE before heading west where she enjoyed 40+ years in Colorado. Katy was a loving and dedicated daughter, sister, and friend. She enjoyed an active lifestyle in Colorado, trying at least everything once this beautiful state had to offer, including skiing, hiking, and camping. She was passionate about life, both past and present, with a love of history, art, music, theater, animals, cooking, movies and sports. She had on her bucket list to travel and to visit museums and monuments around the world to satisfy her love of history, art and music. Katy enjoyed reading everything she could get her hands on from history, biographies, mysteries, and poetry to the local newspaper. She was a strong, independent woman with a generous and compassionate heart, who was very outgoing, always with a positive outlook on life, and never missed an opportunity to smile or laugh with family and friends. Katy didn't know a stranger and deeply treasured her family and many friends. Katy had a long fulfilling career with Ecolab as a Field Support Center Supervisor. She loved her work with Ecolab, but most of all she loved all the people she worked with at Ecolab, whether they were located here or elsewhere in the country. She counted so many of her Ecolab colleagues as very near and dear forever friends. Katy was preceded in death by her parents, Donald Wesley Griffith and Carole Yvonne Claflin Griffith. She is survived by her sister and very best friend, Cynthia Griffith of Highlands Ranch. Special thanks to everyone at Rocky Mountain Cancer Center, University of Colorado Cancer Center-Anschutz, and The Denver Hospice for their unparalleled care. A Celebration of Life and Memorial Service will be held in her honor at Horan & McConaty, 5303 East County Line Road, Centennial, CO at 2:00 p.m. on September 23, 2016. Arrangements are being handled by the caring professionals at Horan & McConaty. In lieu of flowers, it is requested a donation be sent in Katy's name to Cancer League of Colorado. Please share memories of Katy and condolences with her family by signing the guestbook below.
