Kathryn "Kathy" Ann Benetka

Kathryn (Kathy) Ann Benetka passed away on Monday, February 3, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s in Littleton, CO. She leaves behind her loving husband of 38 years, Joe Benetka; son, Joey (Natalia); daughter, Ali; and sister, Peggy (Ed) Fleming. She was born on October 7, 1949, to Walter “Chappy” Fay and Mary Grace Fay in Cincinnati, OH. She graduated from Mother of Mercy High School in Cincinnati and attended Xavier University. The middle child of seven, Kathy loved her siblings and family dearly. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Ann Heimbrock and Patricia Helbing, and brothers, Michael Fay, Tim Fay, and John Fay.

Kathy’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to the people in her life. Always looking for ways to give, Kathy spent her time supporting her children in all of their pursuits. Whether traveling to dance competitions with Ali or helping out at Regis Jesuit High School, Kathy supported her kids every step of the way. Her passion for working with children marked a significant part of her life. Once Joey and Ali were in high school, Kathy went back to work as a para-professional, working with children with special needs. After retirement, she volunteered at Annunciation Catholic School. Her dedication and smile shone through her work every day.

Kathy and Joe traveled extensively after she retired, visiting Austria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Germany, and many trips to Alaska to see Joey. They even cruised through the Panama Canal. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Joe was her devoted caregiver, spending every day making sure that she was loved, cared for, and as comfortable as possible.

Her smile, laugh, and love always filled the room, and there are so many people who have been fortunate enough to experience this. We’ll carry her spirit with us every day. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, Annunciation Catholic School in Denver, or a charity of your choice in memory of Kathy.

A service, followed by a celebration of Kathy’s life, will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 12:00 noon at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home, 3101 S Wadsworth Blvd, Lakewood, CO 80227.
