Kathryn T. Morris, age 99, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away on July 5, 2018. She was born on July 1, 1919 in Newark, New Jersey to Sarah Halpin Obert and Frank Obert.
Kathryn is preceded in death by her loving husband, William Kenneth Morris (Ken); and her three brothers, Francis Elwood, Ray and Walter. She is survived by her son, Dennis Morris from Lewisburg, Pennsylvania; daughter, Kathleen Laxar and her husband, Philip, from Centennial, Colorado; and grandchildren Caitlin Morris, Kevin Laxar, and Brian Laxar.
After graduating West Side High School in Newark, Kathryn worked at Public Service Electric and Gas. On September 20, 1947 Kathryn and Ken Morris married. When her children were in elementary school, Kathryn was very active in the PTA, and served as President of the PTA for some time. Kathryn worked at New Jersey Bell Telephone/Verizon in the Accounting Department, and retired as a Senior Service Analyst after 23 years of service. After her retirement, Kathryn enjoyed traveling with her dear friend, Grace, throughout the United States and Europe. She was a Lay Eucharistic Minister at a local hospital and also volunteered at the same hospital.
In April 2006 at the tender age of 86, Kathryn moved from New Jersey to Colorado. She made many new friends here and often said that the move to Holly Creek was the best thing she ever did. Kathryn participated in many activities here including playing games like ""Hand and Foot"" as well as ""Rummikub"", knitting for charity, and playing Wii bowling. She introduced some residents to bocce ball and enjoyed day trips that Holly Creek ran for many years. Even though Kathryn made so many new friends out here, she never forgot her old friends. Kathryn continued to keep in touch with her family and friends back East long after she moved here.
Kathryn embraced life, was a great story teller and loved to make people laugh. She was cherished by many and will be missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Kathryn's life will take place at Holly Creek Retirement Community, 5500 E. Peakview Ave, Centennial, CO 80121, on July 24, 2018 at 2 P.M.
