Beloved mother and grandmother, Kathryn “Kathy” Irene Medor, 76, passed away on the morning of January 7, 2022 in Denver, Colorado. The youngest of two daughters, Kathy was born on October 16, 1945 to Robert and Anna Eustace in Elizabeth, New Jersey. She grew up in Monmouth County, New Jersey, graduating from Shore Regional High School in 1964. From there, she went on to study at Monmouth College.
In 1966, she married Ralph Medor, a soldier in the United States Army. While stationed in Heidelberg, Germany, they had their eldest son, S. Robert, in August 1967. While living abroad, Kathy was able to live out her love of travel, seeing many sites including the many castles of Germany, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, and Belgium. Even as they returned to the United States to live in Monterey, California, Kathy and Ralph would road trip across the country many times to see family and loved ones in Vermont, Ohio, and New Jersey; revisiting historical sites and treasured landmarks along the way.
In 1978, they found their permanent home in Denver, Colorado. Here, they welcomed their daughter, Danielle, in 1980, and youngest son, Edward, in 1981. Kathy also found work at See’s Candies for many years. Despite settling in and raising a family in the Mile High City, Kathy never forgot her roots, continuing to refer to herself as a “Jersey Girl” all the way until her passing.
Kathy will forever be remembered for her love of literature, as she was an avid reader and former librarian. She utilized this intellect to become an avid Scrabble and Words with Friends player. She also made a hobby of researching her and Ralph’s family ancestries. And anyone who knew Kathy, knew of her lifelong love of Elvis Presley.
Kathy is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Medor, her sister, Roberta Labbe, and her daughter-in-law, Kimberly Medor. Kathy is survived by her children, S. Robert (Kirsten) Medor, Danielle (Brandon) Nance, Edward Medor; grandchildren, Allyson Medor, Mitchel Medor, Savanna Nance; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family will be honoring Kathy’s life at Horan and McConaty in Centennial, CO on Friday, January 21st at 11am. Funeral services to be followed at Golden Cemetery in Golden, CO at 1pm.
