Kathy Ann Erdman

October 1, 1949 — September 17, 2024

Kathy Ann Erdman, of Castle Pines, CO, aged 74, passed away on September 17, 2024. Born on October 1, 1949, in Des Moines, Iowa, Kathy's early years were spent in Omaha, NE and a brief but impactful stint in Cuba before settling in Albuquerque, NM, where she spent most of her life. In 2015, Kathy and Richard relocated to Castle Pines to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Kathy was a vibrant and dynamic individual, cherished by many for her lively, loving, and courageous spirit. She was the embodiment of a life well-celebrated, always the center of joy at gatherings, and a friend to all. Her adventurous life included a thrilling escape from Cuba, treasure hunts in the mesas of New Mexico, running around on the family farm with her beloved cousins in Omaha, and cherished times with her husband and family in Mora, NM, working on the family home in the mountains. She was the epitome of life - brave, fierce, feisty and sassy, but always classy. Known affectionately as "Grammie," she was a friend to all and a grandmother figure to many beyond her own family. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone through her ownership of a ceramic business, and she later pursued various endeavors from selling Mary Kay to managing concession stands and her latest endeavor working at Chico's, where she enjoyed engaging with people and indulging in fashion discounts. She took great pride in her work but found her greatest joy in being a wife, daughter, sister, mother, and “Grammie”.

Kathy's hobbies were as varied as her career, but she made her favorite memories with her family and friends hot air ballooning, skiing, hiking, bowling, antiquing, quilting and crafting. She especially loved watching her grandkids play sports, always cheering them on with a loud cheer and the occasional “ya-hooo”!!

She is survived by her loving husband, Richard Erdman; daughter Heather Dumas and son-in-law Chris Dumas; granddaughters Avery (19) and Taylor (17) Dumas; son Keith Erdman and daughter-in-law Colleen Erdman; grandsons Kellen (16) and Camden (13) Erdman; son Kevin Erdman and daughter-in-law YeaJi Erdman; grandson Mason Erdman (1); sister Cheri Landvater; nephew Josh Landvater; brother Jay Mason and sister-in-law Regina Mason, nephew James Max Mason. She also leaves behind villages of friends who were like family to her. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Ellie Mason.

A celebration of Kathy's life will be held on October 1, 2024, at Phillip S. Miller Park, at the Mill House in Castle Rock, CO, from 3:30 pm – 7:00 pm (hors d’oeuvres served at 3:30 pm, service at 4:00 pm, reception following). A second celebration will be held in Albuquerque, NM, October 11, 2024, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Jay & Regina Mason’s home (please contact the family for additional information). Attendees are encouraged to wear western attire and incorporate pink to honor Kathy's vibrant spirit and love for the wild west cowgirl- which is who she truly was at heart.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in Kathy's memory. Her legacy of vivacity and courage will be remembered by all who knew her, and her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones.
