She was a sunny spring day, the spark plug of family gatherings, the fun sister that family vied to host on her visits from Colorado. Kathy Sue Hartman of Aurora, Colorado died on March 21, 2019.
Kathy was born in Savanna, Illinois on January 7, 1962. She graduated from Savanna Community High School, class of 1980. Kathy attended Northern Illinois University before moving to the Quad Cities then eventually into the Denver area. Kathy was employed as a financial services representative for eight years at Charles Schwab investment firm. Her assiduous attention to detail coupled with her highly personable nature made her a shining example to her profession. Kathy embraced the unofficial title of Office Mom, as she was never without kind encouraging words for her fellow workers.
When her family visited Colorado, she always scheduled a full itinerary. Whether it was white water rafting, shopping mall skydiving, horseback riding, skiing at Eldora, soaking in the hot springs at Glenwood Springs, or riding the cog up Pikes Peak, we were always assured first class adventures.
Kathy's wit and timing was the stuff of legend. She was an excellent Scrabble player and a walking compendium of quotations from the Seinfeld television series.
There have been times when her friends and family have forgotten a card or call on her birthday, but she never forgot our birthdays and special occasions. Her thoughtful cards with the Starbucks gift cards will be missed.
To her friends and family Kathy wants them to know that she is not afraid of dying. In some last texts to her family Kathy writes:
""Lastly, I love my family, friends, co-workers, Halo (her little rescue dog) and Shelly for their support and understanding during this journey...I wish it had a different outcome, but this was His plan for me. If you see a penny pick it up...or if you see a streetlamp go out, know that it is just me saying Hello, and I am alright.
-Love to Lots, Kath, Kat, Aunt Ka Ka, KK, Lb, HaloMom, Kathy XO""
Her parents Ivan and Vernette Hartman predeceased Kathy. Kathy is survived by her partner of 25 years, Shelly Davis. Kathy is survived by three sisters Mollie (William) Lego of Rockford, Illinois; Marlene (Dennis) Kessler of Mount Carroll, Illinois; and Lu Anne (Dan) Heim, of Galena, Illinois; and one brother Eric (Lisa) Hartman of Sabula, Iowa. Kathy also leaves many nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and grand nieces.
