Kathy Loraine McBride (Deyo) passed away quietly August 12, 2010 surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Hospice of St. John provided the family crucial guidance and support in her final days. Kathy was born August 27, 1952 in Denver, Colorado, to Donald and Frances Deyo. She has two sisters, Carol Luce and Karen Mahan; one brother, Tom Deyo; and one half brother, John Spears. The family grew up in Golden, Colorado. She married David Mackey in 1968. She subse-quently finished high school in Virginia where David was stationed in the US Navy. Several duty stations later in Oakland and San Diego, sons David II and Scott were born. After David left Active Duty, the family settled in Longmont, Colorado where the youngest son, Joshua, was born. Kathy and her family lived in Longmont where she worked many years at Longmont United Hospital. She was passionate about helping the sick and injured. After divorce, she moved to Denver continuing in the health care field as a medical records director and accounts payable administrator for Bear Creek and Hallmark Nursing Centers. It was during this time that Kathy developed many deep and lasting friendships and ultimately met her soul mate Bob McBride. Bob and Kathy were married on September 1, 1998. Their marriage sparked the passion and love that sustained her through her battle with cancer. Kathy is survived by her husband, Bob McBride of Lakewood, CO; three sons, David Mackey and his wife Andrea of Longmont, CO, Scott Mackey and his wife Kelly of Natick, MA, and Joshua Mackey of Ogallala, NE; three grandchildren, Katie, Nathan, Eli; one brother, Tom Deyo of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Carol Luce of Erie, PA, and Karen Mahan of Longmont, CO; her dogs, Charlie and Buddy, who were also her little angels. She was preceded in death by her parents. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held at Horan & McConaty chapel in Lakewood, CO on Saturday, August 21 at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the same location. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Kathy McBride Memorial Fund at any of the Wells Fargo Bank locations.
