Kathy Wilkerson

Lucy Katherine Sidoric Wilkerson of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away July 27, 2012, following a nearly four-year struggle with leukemia. Kathy was born December 7, 1952, in Beaumont, Texas, to Michael and Wilda May Sidoric and grew up in suburban New Jersey, spending many summers with her grandparents in rural east Texas. She graduated from Stanford University in 1974, where she met her husband, Randy. They were married November 29, 1974, at Kathy's family home in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. Following graduation, Kathy began her career with the U.S. Forest Service in geology, mineral and energy resources with stops in Missoula, Butte, and Dillon, Montana, and Jackson, Wyoming. Kathy had a life-long love of the earth sciences and enjoyed sharing that interest with others, including elementary school classes, working with a Forest Service team to teach Venezuelan government representatives about environmental management systems, and serving on the board of directors and as president of the Tobacco Root Geological Society, a professional society emphasizing education and research on the geology of the northern Rocky Mountains. After leaving the Forest Service and moving to the Denver area, Kathy began to forge a career in environmental consulting, beginning with Envision, an Internet-based team completing environmental assessments. In 1998, she joined Greystone Environmental Consultants as a senior geologist and project manager and moved to Arcadis-U.S., Inc. when Arcadis acquired Greystone. As a senior project manager and technical expert with Arcadis, Kathy specialized in leading the development of large-scale environmental impact statements, primarily related to oil and gas development in Wyoming. Throughout her career, Kathy always remained devoted to her first love, her family. Her son, Ross, was born in 1985 in Dillon, and her daughter, May, was born in 1991 in Jackson. Outside of work, Kathy enjoyed visiting Yellowstone and travelling in the Rocky Mountains, rockhounding, wine tasting and being a hockey mom. Kathy is survived by her immediate family, Randy, Ross and May, and her brother and sister-in-law, Michael and June Sidoric of Austin, Texas. Donations will be targeted to the Pediatric Oncology Department at Children's, a unit near and dear to Kathy's heart for the remarkable job they did caring for Ross 25 years ago.
