HYMAS, KAY H. Kay Hyrum Hymas, beloved husband, son, father and friend, passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2006. Kay was born in Sharon, ID on May 19th, 1940 and is survived by his wife, Joan, his mother, Venna, his children, Nyla (David) Crosby, Marlynn (Kenneth) Avery, Darren (Kristie) Hymas, Karma (Benjamin) Schwalger, Eldeen (Judd) Pickett and 18 grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by his father, Calvin Price Hymas, sister, Eldeen Hymas, brother, Lynn Hymas. Kay retired from the Federal Highway Administration as a Civil Engineer, in 1999 and continued his work as a part-time engineer consultant for Mactec. He enjoyed flying airplanes, hunting, fishing, boating, snowmobiling, skiing, scuba diving, ATV's, camping in the mountains, animals, and riding motorcycles. He was game for trying anything and loved exploring new places. Kay traveled many places in the world, including Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand, Austria, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize, Canada and Mexico. He was fortunate to see all 50 states in the US. Kay loved music. He could often be heard at the piano playing to relax, or strumming on a guitar. Even though he never had a music lesson, that did not keep him from playing any instrument handed to him, such as piano, banjo, guitar, accordion, violin, flute and the list goes on. But what brought Kay his greatest joy was being with family and serving others. He was a great example to each of us and could answer any questions posed from Algebra to Astronomy. Kay was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved the gospel with all his heart. He served in many callings ranging from teacher to Bishop. He magnified every calling to its fullest and touched the lives of all those he met. Kay was loved by all and will be deeply missed.
