Keene N. Owens

January 6, 1924 — July 7, 2018

Keene N. Owens, retired native of Colorado, passed away on July 7, 2018. Keene was born to David P. Nichols and Ruby C. Nichols on January 6th, 1924 in Englewood, Colorado. She graduated with honors from Englewood High School in 1941 and in 1946 earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Married to Lewis R. Owens, an engineer dedicated to the aerospace industry, she worked as a Kindergarten teacher in Alabama and bookkeeper to the Head Start program in Florida. She enjoyed preparing Asian cuisine and was a prolific writer, creating a legacy of genealogical data that her family continually references and enjoys.

After retiring, she traveled extensively with her devoted husband Lewis. They were avid RVers and travelled to all 50 states in the US along with every state in Mexico and all but one of the provinces of Canada. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at the home of family friends September 11, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lewis R. Owens and parents Ruby C. Nichols and David P. Nichols. Keene is survived by her four children and spouses, 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Memorial Service, 10:30AM, Monday August 27th, 2018, Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Rd., Centennial, CO 80122, Reception following 12:00-1:30PM.

Interment Ceremony, ~ 1:30PM, Fort Logan National Cemetery, committal shelter B.
