Title - Veteran Broadcaster Well known Radio Broadcaster and Operator, Keith Milan Ashton Sr., after suffering from Alzheimer's for several years, died peacefully with his family at his side, on September 15, 2015 in Fort Collins, CO at the age of 86. Keith was born on March 10, 1929 in Cheyenne, WY to Virgil Perry and Viola (Milan) Ashton. He attended University of Wyoming before serving in the U.S. Army and being honorably discharged and starting his professional career. He married Valerie Victor in 1965 in Sacramento, CA. Keith and Valerie lived in Greeley from 1989 until 2014 when they relocated to Highlands Ranch. Keith was a natural-born entrepreneur, owner, and orator. He worked professionally in a variety of fields including marketing, advertising, public relations, sales, and communications. He was widely recognized throughout the Mountain States region as a radio and TV personality. He was an extremely hardworking and dedicated individual, working full time and volunteering well into his 80's. He was the recipient of several professional awards including Lifetime Achievement, Distinguished Service, and Senior Citizen of the Year. He was also an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in various positions. Keith is survived by his wife of 50 years, Valerie Ashton, of Highlands Ranch, CO; 6 children, Mike Ashton of Butte, MT and Becky Ashton-Bohman of St. George, UT, both of a previous marriage; Keith Ashton Jr., of Westport, CT; Andrea Fowler of Parker, CO; Melissa Hamm of Layton, UT; and Josh Ashton of Erie, CO. At his passing, Keith had 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Perry Ashton; and daughter, Debi Ogden. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, September 28, 2015 at 11:30am MST at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 9800 Foothills Canyon Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO. Bishop Glenn Roper will officiate. All are welcome to attend to remember and celebrate Keith's life.
